The Interact Club at HHSS is collecting used batteries to recycle. For every battery recycled, Teck will donate the value of the zinc to UNICEF in support of the Zinc & Health partnership.
For instance, every day 1500 children under the age of 5 die of diarrhea around the world. Therapeutic zinc, combined with oral rehydration salts, reduces the severity and duration of diarrhea. One AA battery contains enough zinc to save 6 children.
